Fazal Sheikh is an artist who uses photographs to document people living in displaced and marginalized communities around the world. Frequently collaborating with local communities, Sheikh has undertaken long-term projects in Africa, Afghanistan, India, and Israel/Palestine, and is currently working with the Utah Diné Bikéyah Native American coalition and writer Terry Tempest Williams on the project Exposure. Sheikh is currently the Currie C. and Thomas A. Barron Visiting Professor in the Environment Studies and the Humanities at Princeton University. His work has been the subject of exhibitions internationally, from the Tate Modern, London, to the Metropolitan Museum and United Nations in New York City, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow. The author of fifteen monographs, Sheikh is a fellow of the MacArthur, Guggenheim, and Fulbright Foundations.
