Aaron Jakes is Assistant Professor of History at the New School for Social Research, where he teaches on the modern Middle East and South Asia, environmental history, and the historical geography of capitalism. He is currently a fellow at the Yale Program in Agrarian Studies, where he is completing his current book project, entitled Colonial Economism: Financialization, British Rule, and the Crises of Capitalism in Egypt, 1882-1922.
