Gül Deniz Demirel Aydemir

Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant of Turkish

Gül Deniz Demirel Aydemir is a Fulbright Turkish Language Teaching Assistant at Yale. Born and raised in Turkey, she studied English language teaching at Middle East Technical University in Ankara. She received her M.A. on English Literature from the same university in 2015. She worked as a language assistant at Immenhofer Schule Stuttgart, Germany in 2010. She has been teaching English and Academic Writing at Hacettepe University since 2010, where she also worked as an administrative and academic coordinator, and a test developer. After she became certified to teach Turkish as a foreign language (Hacettepe University TOMER), she started to teach Turkish as well. She is currently doing her Ph.D. on teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Her academic interests include integrating culture into her teaching practice through authentic materials, and lowering affective filter in language classes.
