CMES Summer 2016 Student Photo Contest

As the summer approaches, the Yale Council on Middle East Studies (CMES) is pleased to invite and encourage Yale students to share their experience and insight on the Middle East and North Africa with the Yale community through a photography competition open to undergraduate, graduate and professional school students.

We are looking for your Summer 2016 photos conveying the features of various Places, People, and Cultures of the Middle East and North Africa through your eyes.

First Place $300
Second Place $150
Third Place $50

Deadline: 3 pm, Friday, September 30, 2016

 

(1) This contest is open only to Yale’s undergraduate, graduate and professional school students. Faculty, staff and visitors are ineligible. (2) All entries must be received by email to cmes@yale.edu no later than 3 pm on Friday, September 30, 2016. (3) Entrants may submit up to three photographs, each in a separate email. The photo must be in digital form, submitted as an attachment and not within the body of the email. The file should be 20 MB or smaller and must be JPEG/JPG format. (4) Entrants must include the following required information with each submission: a photo title, a complete and accurate caption to convey the place and circumstances in which the photograph was taken, and the place and date of the photo, as well as their name, email address, phone number, and Yale affiliation. If this information is not included, the entry will not be considered. (5) By entering the contest, the entrant acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work produced solely by the entrant and that the entrant holds sole ownership and copyright to this work. Photographs should not previously have won an award in another photo contest. Entrants may submit photos that they have previously uploaded to personal albums online or that have been posted to a personal website for non-commercial purposes. (6) Although copyright for all images submitted remains with the respective entrants, by entering the contest all entrants grant a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual license to the Council on Middle East Studies and The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale to reproduce, display and create derivative works of the entries along with a name credit in connection with the contest and promotion of the contest in any media and display at an exhibition of winners and select entries as well as publication online and in print, with full credit given to the photographer. (7) Photos will be judged by a panel of CMES faculty and staff. Winners will be notified by email in November. Winners and honorable mentions will be published on CMES’s website and recognized at the next CMES Reception.
